Dr. Shir Shanun

Psychologist PSY25481

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and a psychoanalyst working with individuals, couples and poly-relationships. Dreaming new possibilities together, transforming and elaborating emotional experiences and developing greater awareness of our storylines. Co-creating new relational experiences of connection, recognition and intimacy with the persons I work with.

We will focus on struggles with freedom, creativity, love and trust as we change patterns of repetitions and elaborate meaning and possibilities. Together we will explore our worlds connecting with our feelings and discovering un-lived spaces, existential dreads as well as hopes and dreams. Understanding our context and our unconscious longings.

I am LGBTQAI+ affirmative and dedicated to providing a safe and accepting space. My specialties include working with trauma, developmental trauma and complex trauma, abuse and sexual assault, addiction and recovery, safety, self harm and severe and persistent mental illness including Depression, Anxiety, Mood and Bipolar, Psychosis and Personality disorders, Dissociation, Compulsions, Eating Disorders, Loss, Safety, Gender, Sexuality, infidelity, polyamory and kink.

I work with Young Adults, Adults and Older Adults, Couples and Complex relationships such as Polyamory. I am fluent in English and Hebrew.

Treatment modalities: working predominantly from psychoanalytic perspectives of Post Bionian Field theory, Experience based-pragmatic (storying) psychoanalysis, Complexity theory and Existentialisim.

I complement my work with elements from other Psychoanalytic theories and practices such as Relational-interpersonal theory, self psychology and Phenomenological Contextualism.

Professional affiliation: American Psychological Association (APA). International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy (IARPP).
